Co Founder and one of two senior instructors at Western Canada Martial Arts Academy based in Calgary AB.

 

Andrew started his training at the age of 8 with Judo in England and then onto Shorinji Kempo where he achieved a Black Belt. In 1988 he moved to Bermuda and after reading an article in Inside Kung Fu magazine on Bruce Lee he researched and found the Jeet Kune Do Association and their teachings based on James Yimm Lee’s teachings while Bruce Lee was still alive. James was one of the three people certified to teach JKD from Bruce Lee.

 

Andrews’ instructor is Prof.Gary Dill who was given permission to carry on the teachings of James Yimm lee, James passed away in December of 1972. Andrew has traveled extensively to train with Prof Dill and has held seminars in Bermuda as well. In 2000 Andrew moved to Canada he has attained the rank of Master instructor (Sibak) and holds a 6th Degree Black sash under the Jeet Kune Do Association. He was awarded a position on the Board of Directors in 2011 and in the same year was inducted into the World Head of Family Sokeship Council martial Arts Hall of fame as a Jeet Kune do Instructor.

After 42 years of continuous training Andrew finds great pleasure from seeing other people succeed in Martial Arts, and now after teaming up with Guro Marvin they have the fortune of being able to teach two lineages from Bruce Lee, Andrew has also trained with Guro Dan Inosanto and Guro Daniel Lonero and Sifu Francis Fong.

 

Andrew is a Chef by Trade and holds the highest rank of Chef available in Canada as Certified Chef de Cuisine and has a great family that supports him
