James Lin

Began Martial Arts training with Tae Kwon Do in 1974.Continued with JKA Karate in Chicago while attending Northwestern University.Sampled Aikido.1975-1977Moved to Atlanta 1977. Continued with Shotokan Karate in Atlanta. Again sampled Aikido.Moved to Los Angeles in 1978. Continued with Shotokan Karate. Met Roderick Kobayashi Sensei and briefly studied Aikido with him (1/2 year).Sampled Hapkido ~1 yr.

 

Resumed study of Aikido with Kobayashi Sensei in 1988. Opened first Aikido school at Cal State Long Beach in 1990 at the request of Kobayashi Sensei. Received 1st Degree Black Belt (later) in 1990.Went to Medical School in 1991 in Macon, GA. Opened second Aikido School in Macon in 1991. Continued personal training in Columbia, SC. Received 2nd degree in 1994.Retired from teaching Aikido in 1999.

 

Began to sample more earnestly with Wing Chun, Kali, and Muay Thai, through Sifu Francis Fong’s Academy in Atlanta, GA in 2000. (Seminars with Guro Dan Inosanto, Ajarn Chai, and Erik Paulson)

 

Accepted to Instructor Training Program by Sifu Fong 2002. Continuing focused study of Wing Chun. Continuing adjunctive study of Kali and Muay Thai through seminars at Sifu Fong’s Academy.Moved to Vancouver, Washington 2006. Continued training in Wing Chun through WCIC and local Wing Chun acquaintance in Vancouver, WA.

 

Moved to Tacoma, WA 2008. Began training in Kali, Muay Thai, and CSW with Chris Clark’s school along with continued training through WCIC in Wing Chun.

 

Still training in WCIC (Wing Chun), Muay Thai and Kali at present.
