Jim Brault

Jim began training in martial arts in 1983 after a successful high school and college wrestling career. He trained in Tae Kwon Do under then US Olympic Coach Master Sang Chul Lee until 1986. He earned his first degree black belt under Master Nam Yell Ahn in 1987 and his second degree black belt under Master Sam J. Kim in 1989. From there Jim studied and earned a blue belt in Isshin-Ryu Karate under Sensei Matt Dorsey, and was exposed to a number of different arts and instructors through Sifu Kevin Seaman’s seminars, including Jeet Kune Do and Kali through Guro Dan Inosanto, and Muay Thai through Ajarn Chai Sirisute. It was at one of these seminars in 1991 that Jim met Sifu Francis Fong. Since that time, Jim has studied Wing Chun under Sifu Fong and was accepted as an Apprentice Instructor in 1999, and as an Associate Instructor in 2003. He is currently a Black Belt and 5th Level Associate Instructor under Sifu Fong. He is the author of Lessons from the Masters: Seven Keys to Peak Performance and Inner Peace, which features Guro Dan Inosanto and Sifu Francis Fong, and co-author with Sifu Kevin Seaman of The Winning Mindset. Jim trains private students in Rochester, NY and Cambridge, UK, and is extremely honored to be a student of Sifu Fong and an affiliate of the Francis Fong Instructor Association.
